My Clients…
I’ve been fortunate to partner with a range of organisations across the public and private sector who are making menopause a mainstream conversation in their workplaces. Each organisation is taking a different approach because it’s important to introduce menopause in the right way for your workforce. There’s no one size fits all when it comes to conversations, surveys, focus groups, webinars, workshops,
e learning or policies.

What my clients say about working with me…
Thank you very much for today Julie – a great session and a superb spring board for us to launch our menopause support’s upward trajectory here at Zopa. The session was engaging, easy to follow and a great guide for us Menopause Champs to refer back to & ensure we’re giving our fellow Zopians the support they need & would value.
At Health Education England, we have formed a subgroup of our Women’s Staff Network, to look at menopause and what we could do to support colleagues, to start to raise the profile of the subject matter and start to take steps to remove the taboo from it all. As part of that work we undertook writing a menopause toolkit for colleagues and managers – it covers info on symptoms, including a symptom tracker; tips and ideas on how to have conversations with managers and a robust list of suggested workplace adjustments that could be put in place if required.
We launched the toolkit earlier this year and to support the roll-out of it, we approached Julie to run monthly briefing sessions for us for the rest of the year. We alternate these sessions, between one for colleagues and then one specifically for managers. We have completed 10 sessions and the response has been overwhelming positive – Julie has a wealth of knowledge and experience but is also so engaging when running the sessions. Nothing is too much trouble, she tries to answer as many questions as she can and will then send on specific information and resources after the session.
Already we have had an overwhelming response that colleagues want to see more of Julie! For me personally, I completely echo that, a real pleasure to work with.
Last month we kicked started the conversation of Menopause at Work, by hosting a workshop for our people and a separate one for our Managers to cover the implications if Managers do not handle with care and attention.
It was great to see all genders and age groups on the virtual workshops and the feedback we had was fantastic:
- We asked them to rate the session out of 5 stars and the average rating was 4.88
- We asked if they would recommend to a colleague in which everyone answered ‘yes’
- We also asked following the workshop if they would feel more comfortable in having a conversation whether that be a colleague or at home to which the average number was 9.06 / 10
Special thank you to Julie Dennis for delivering these workshops. Julie offered such an interesting and insightful discussion into the world of Menopause and it was wonderful to see participants feeling confident enough to open up and engage in those conversations with other colleagues.
We will continue this topic throughout the year to reach all of our people on increasing their knowledge on such an important topic to give a better understanding of what their colleagues, partners and family members go through when perimenopausal and in the menopause.
At Sellafield we believe all employees deserve the opportunity to realise their full potential and that includes promoting an environment of openness and transparency where it’s ok to talk about menopause.
In order to make sure this message reached as many of our people as possible we worked with Julie to produce a customised online menopause awareness briefing.
It was important to us that the briefing was tailored to Sellafield’s mission and manifesto and was inclusive of employees across all our locations, in all types of work, including those working over the barrier.
Thank you Julie for your help, support and professionalism and taking the time to understand what’s important to Sellafield and the clear purpose that we are all working towards. We are the proud host of a brilliant recording that is creating positive behaviours and conversations about menopause throughout Sellafield.
The overwhelming consensus within our organisation was for a lunch and learn session on menopause, Julie came highly recommended and she did not disappoint! Arranging the training was effortless with great communication and check ins during the lead-up to the event.
Julie kept the audience engaged and encouraged participation in the chat function. The personal stories and experiences shared put the audience at ease and encouraged them to start conversations around their own experiences. Attendees left the session armed with tips and tricks to manage symptoms and the overwhelming feeling that they are not alone!
Momentum built from the session has led to the planning of a Menopause Support Group and some walks and yoga sessions have been arranged by participants to come together and support one another.
The session has received overwhelming positive feedback from colleagues and has ignited conversations about menopause throughout the organisation.
Again, a massive thank you!!
Julie has been great in advising us how to kick off conversations within our business around menopause. With her great knowledge and expertise in introducing the topic to different audiences, we were able to deliver an inclusive and safe event, and we were able to highlight that menopause matters to everyone.
We would definitely recommend Julie to anybody who is approaching the journey of menopause in business conversations and beyond.
We have been working with Julie this year to better understand how we support our people during menopause. Julie has delivered some amazing face to face and virtual workshops that have been engaging, lively and informative. Everyone who has attended took something useful away from the session!
In collaboration, Julie created bespoke on line training for our managers to ensure going forward we:
A) continue to remind ourselves about how we support our people and
B) provides new managers with a toolkit to which they can refer to for guidance.
Thank you Julie for being so friendly, knowledgeable and open on the topic and helping us learn more about menopause.
Julie Dennis delivered two live sessions for us on ‘menopause and management’ and ‘men and menopause’. Julie was very easy to work with and she was helpful throughout the whole process leading up to the sessions.
When it came to the sessions themselves Julie was very knowledgeable, very passionate and the feedback from the attendees was very positive.
After the seminar was delivered Julie had a consultation with us to discuss guidance and best practice with regards to menopause and the workplace.
Julie was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her to other organisations.
Menopause awareness and learning how to support colleagues and ourselves is important at the Coal Authority as it helps us be a truly great place to work – for everyone.
The menopause pack provided by Julie was great in creating engagement following World Menopause Day as it created some great discussions around the topic in a fun and interesting way. Julie was great to work with and the information covered all the aspects we needed to get the conversations going, really helpful in these busy times!
Our Menopause Awareness Webinar run by Julie was well attended by our staff. The session was very informative and gave some great ideas of practical things to try. Julie was fabulous at engaging with staff using the chat function and inviting questions throughout. We’ve had great feedback from staff on the session. Thanks Julie.
We just wrapped up the second of two live sessions on boom! Global Network with the brilliant Julie Dennis on menopause at work. This one addressed the topic from a colleague/manager/workplace perspective, and I want to give a big shout out to all the male allies and business leaders who joined the session. 🙌
As Julie said in her wrap up, the more we talk about it, the easier it will become. And there are simple ways to start. It’s not a topic often talked about at work, so the practical tips (among many other things!) Julie shared to help start a conversation about it in the workplace and make it a ‘safe’ topic to talk about without fear of embarrassment or loss of opportunity, were just fantastic. Because when we can talk about things, change happens and we can create cultures that are truly inclusive and benefit everyone.
I can’t recommend Julie highly enough for the work she’s doing. 🚀
We invited Julie in to the Chartered Institute of Housing to deliver a menopause awareness raising workshop for our staff team as well, as a session aimed specifically at line managers, as part of our policy launch.
The sessions were dynamic, engaging and Julie really knows her stuff! Her approach is perfectly pitched so as to open up a healthy conversation.
Feedback from staff members included: “Julie was completely brilliant!!”, “I thought it was an excellent session”, and “I wish I had attended a session like that some years ago”.
Thank you Julie and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a fantastic workshop last night, I really enjoyed it and loved the way you presented it, by far the best Zoom I have ever had! I thought it struck the perfect balance of information, people asking questions and people engaging with the content!
As a growing organisation and always focusing on staff wellbeing, we decided as an organisation to have a menopause champion. However, to do this role we knew we would need some support.
I searched the internet looking for people / companies who could support this and give guidance. It felt quite daunting to find the right support until I found Julie.
We had a good chat initially to see what we needed and then arranged a session for 3 of us who would be champion and it was brilliant!!
Great guidance, great ideas, relaxing but informative and a definite yes for any company who is looking at needing support to put in place a menopause champion.
