A professor began his philosophy class by holding up a glass with some water in it.

As he held up the glass the students waited for him to start the glass half full or half empty debate.

But he didn’t.

Instead he asked the students ‘How much do you think this glass weighs?’

‘50gs!’…‘100gs!’…’125gs’ …the students called out.

‘Well the truth is I really don’t know unless I weigh it,’ said the professor,

‘but what do you think would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?’

‘Nothing’ the students said.

‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the professor asked.

‘Your arm would ache’ came the answer

’Yes and what would happen if I held it for a whole day?’

‘Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress and paralysis and have to go to hospital!’ called out a student.

‘Ha ha very good. But during the day, would the weight of the glass change?’ asked the professor.

‘No’ was the resounding answer.

‘Then what caused the arm ache and muscle stress?’

Noone answered.

‘What should I do now to stop my arm aching?’ asked the professor.

‘Put the glass down!’ said one of the students

‘Exactly!’ said the professor.

Life’s worries are like this aren’t they?

Hold them in you head for a few minutes and they seem ok.

Think of them for a long time and you begin to ache.

Keep them inside even longer and they begin to paralyse you and prevent you from leading the life you deserve.

So stop holding your menopause worries and questions inside.

Share what’s going on with you and ask for help.

And the quicker you do that the quicker you’re going to learn how to get control of your symptoms and feel like yourself again.

What do you think? Are you ready to put the glass down?
