Most people are unhappy with some part of their body and want to change it. You sense that you need to take action, but never seem to have the momentum to do so.

What is it that’s stopping you from taking the action necessary for healthy weight loss?

Numerous studies have identified that the number one most common emotion that stops you from taking action is fear.  Fear is not a physical thing, it’s an emotion that stimulates feelings based on your thought processes.

Your brain perceives fear as pain and your internal wiring system is geared up to do whatever it has to do to avoid pain, even if it’s detrimental to you in the long term.  However, once you begin to understand what it is you’re actually fearful of, you can start to change your thoughts and begin to view whatever it is you fear differently and then you can take some action.

Essentially, by acknowledging the issues and working through them, your neurological system no longer perceives it as pain.

So, what are you fearful of? What’s stopping you from taking the action required to lose weight transform your body shape?

There’s actually three types of fear that get in our way:

  • Fear of loss
  • Fear of the process
  • Fear of the outcome

Let’s talk about fear of the process. Changing can be hard and the process part of doing something new is hard. If you want to lose weight, the process of exercising and eating differently will be hard at first and you may be fearful of that.

You’re not yet sure exactly how you’re going to make the changes necessary because you don’t know what the process is.

I felt exactly the same some years ago when I was overweight, smoking, drinking and still partying hard. I knew I wanted to change and changing scared the hell out of me but I got on with it bit by bit. First of all I thought about it for a couple of years.  Then I quit smoking.  Unfortunately I chose to replace cigarettes with chocolate hobnobs and so I put on weight which wasn’t the plan I had!

You see change is hard and we don’t always get it right the first time or the second time or even the third time.

As a healthy weight loss expert I take all the confusing and inconsistent advice out there, break it down into bite size chunks and provide a simple step system for my clients to follow. That way no one has to take as long as I did to make a change.

So, if you don’t yet have something you say you want, like a different shaped body, if you’re not yet doing what you can to lose weight – why is that?

You know you want to lose weight, so why aren’t you doing something about it?

What are you fearful of? If you think you know, write it down.

Once you know what it is, you can turn everything on its head and focus or visualise on what you will gain through change – the joy, the excitement, fitting into those jeans again!  Then you’ll be able to take action.

If you’re ready to make a change let’s talk about how you can do that.
